A talk on the film "Papa"
The film of the former Minsk resident Maria Yakimovich "Papa" was shot in a unique and relevant genre of documentary animation. Find out about the techniques used to create the film and whether it was easy to let the whole world see the pain points of her family in a conversation with the director.

Maria Yakimovich was born in Minsk in 1993 and has been engaged in art since early childhood. After studying at the secondary art school in Minsk, she moved to Krakow, where she studied for a year at the Faculty of Painting of the Andrzej Fritsch Modrzewski University and then began studying at the Faculty of Graphics of the Academy of Fine Arts named after Yan Mateyko. She participated in exhibitions, creating music videos, her watercolor and graphic works are now in different countries of the world. The animated documentary "Papa" is her diploma at the Academy of Arts.

Anton Sidarenka is a film critic, screenwriter, journalist, film reviewer. Since 2020, Anton has been overseeing film selection for the Belarusian film section of the Northern Lights. Born and raised in Minsk, Anton has witnessed both the epoch of cinema theatres’ popularity and the downhill of old-school journalism. Anton is the author of KinoChtivo, one of the longest-known Belarusian blogs, and has written more than 1000 reviews, interviews, and articles in the media. Blogger, journalist, TV producer and five-times host of the "Cinema phenomena" club in Minsk cinema theatre Raketa, ex-worker of the Museum of the Belarusian Cinema History, former chief editor of Belarusfilm, the national film studio of Belarus, creator of "Non-fiction film" (Belarusian television, 2014). His favorite film producer is Michelangelo Antonioni. His current sphere of interest includes documentary films.
