A talk on the film "Common Language"
The film "Common language" is the first directorial experience of the founder of the Northern Lights Film Festival Volia Chajkouskaya, an extremely honest gaze at the relationship with her mother and father. Find out how relations with her family changed after the film was released in a conversation with the director Volia Chajkouskaya.

Volya Chajkouskaya was born in 1987 in Vitebsk. Graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of BSU and the Baltic School of Cinema and Media (Tallinn, Estonia). Member of the European Film Academy (with the right to vote). In 2016, she founded the production company Volia Films. Produced by Volya Chajkouskaya, the film "Road Movie" ("The Road") was first in the debut program of the IDFA Film Festival (Amsterdam), as well as about 80 other festivals around the world, was in commercial film distribution in the United States and other countries. "Common Language" is the directorial debut of Volya Chajkouskaya.

Anton Sidarenka is a film critic, screenwriter, journalist, film reviewer. Since 2020, Anton has been overseeing film selection for the Belarusian film section of the Northern Lights. Born and raised in Minsk, Anton has witnessed both the epoch of cinema theatres’ popularity and the downhill of old-school journalism. Anton is the author of KinoChtivo, one of the longest-known Belarusian blogs, and has written more than 1000 reviews, interviews, and articles in the media. Blogger, journalist, TV producer and five-times host of the "Cinema phenomena" club in Minsk cinema theatre Raketa, ex-worker of the Museum of the Belarusian Cinema History, former chief editor of Belarusfilm, the national film studio of Belarus, creator of "Non-fiction film" (Belarusian television, 2014). His favorite film producer is Michelangelo Antonioni. His current sphere of interest includes documentary films.
