From a producer to a film director and back
Giedrė Žickytė is presenting three films at this year's "Northern Lights" film festival. They are "How We Played the Revolution" and "The Jump", which she directed, and "Gentle Warriors", which she produced. The "Northern Lights" festival director Volia Chajkouskaya will talk with Giedrė Žickytė about the roles she plays in filmmaking.

Giedrė Žickytė is an award-winning Lithuanian documentary film director and producer and the co-founder of the production company MOONMAKERS. She graduated with a Master’s degree in Visual Arts from Vilnius Art Academy in 2007. Her films have been selected at numerous international film festivals. I'm Not From Here (co-directed with M.Alberdi) was nominated at the European Film Academy Awards in 2016. Master and Tatyana won 4 "Silver Cranes", the Lithuanian Film Academy Awards. Her latest documentary The Jump won the Best Documentary Feature Award at Warsaw Film Festival in 2020.

Volia Chajkouskaya was born in Belarus, currently living in Estonia. She started off with journalism studies and has 11 years of working experience in media. Volia also obtained a Master's Degree in directing and producing documentary films in Baltic Film and Media School (Tallinn, Estonia). She launched Volia Films production company in 2016, the company is registered in Estonia and Belarus. Volia Films produced a full-length documentary “The Road Movie” (dir. Dmitrii Kalashnikov) in 2016. The Road Movie was world premiered at IDFA First Appearance Competition the same year and was screened at more than 80 festivals. Volia is a voting member of the European Film Academy and a board member of the Producers and Film Production Guild of Belarus. She is the founder and program director of the Northern Lights Nordic-Baltic Film Festival in Belarus. In 2019 Volia joined Allfilm production company as a producer and director. Currently has three projects in active stages.
