How to approach social pressure and conditioning with humor
The dark comedy "Iron Ladies" depicts the adventures of three strong-willed old ladies. Director Pamela Tola calls it an ode to maturity, an urge to celebrate life at any age, and a reminder that it is never too late to follow one's dream. In a dialogue with film critic and programme selector of Berlinale Claudia Landsberg, Pamela will share her positive and ironic view on age.

Pamela Tola is a Finnish actress, writer, and director. Her breakthrough in acting was in Dome Karukoski’s film Beauty and The Bastard (2005), from which she got her first Jussi-nomination. She has also acted in Karukoski’s films Lapland Odyssey (2010) and Heart of a Lion (2013). Tola started acting when she was 9-years old, as a hobby in video films and amateur theatre. Tola studied acting in the Theatre Academy of Helsinki and graduated as a Master of Theatre Arts in 2008. She published a book, "Why I act?", in 2007, which was a part of her final thesis in the theatre academy. During her academic studies, she acted in the theatre Jurkka, in Helsinki. She directed her first feature film, Swingers, in 2018. Prior to that she has been writing and directing short films. Ladies of Steel is her second feature film as a writer and director.

Claudia Landsberger is active in the field of story, script and project development, rough-cut consulting, and sales and festival strategy support for fiction and documentary films. Landsberger is program adviser for various international film festivals, Head of Tallinn's Black Nights Stars young actors Program, and Prifest Industry consultant in Kosovo. For many years she was a member of the selection committee of the Berlinale Competition Program and the Hamburg Film Fund. She is a voting member of the European Film Academy. Landsberger was for two decades managing director of EYE International at the Netherlands Film Institute and co-founder and President of European Film Promotion.
